Please read on to find out more. And remember, drink plenty of water before and during the event, and always warm up and stretch before you exercise. The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon Team look forward to seeing you soon!

What to do when you get there:

Head straight to the Check-In tent with your parents or carer for speedy processing (it’s easy to find with the big Scan Check-In flags). Make sure you have your bib number and official T-shirt. We will give you your Official swim cap.

After CHECK-IN where do I go?

You will then go through the Numbering area where HELP TEAM volunteers wearing red T-shirts will make sure you are numbered on the arm and leg. Please make sure that you don’t put sunscreen on until we have written on your numbers – otherwise they’ll rub straight off. Our Help Team will also answer all your questions, check you have everything you need and point you in the direction of TRANSITION.

What to take into transition checklist:

Take everything that you will need for the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon into the Transition Area – this will include your:

  • Official Weet-bix Kids TRYathlon Arena Swim Cap
  • Goggles
  • Official Kids Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon T-shirt with Bib Number attached
  • Bike with your security sticker attached
  • Helmet with the security sticker attached
  • Runners / socks
  • Towel
  • Brita Water Bottle (filled with water)
  • Any medication you think you may need use of during the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon (EG: Asthma puffer)

Make sure that only the equipment you need for your event is left at your bike; any sports bags should be handed to your parents. Please note that only one parent may accompany you to TRANSITION, but you can also do this alone in conjunction with our great Help Team.

After I have racked my bike inTransition, where do I go?

Check with your parents or carer, and, if you do not have to go to the Briefing straight away, you can enjoy all the fun activities in the Kids TRYathlon Village until it is your turn. Listen to the commentator’s announcements as each age group is called into Briefing.

What happens in the Swim leg

Officials will guide you to the start and several kids at a time will be started together in small groups. The water depth usually varies from shallow to less than 2m. There will be lifeguards in the water with you, so it will be very safe.
From the swim you will be directed to Transition via the course mapped out for you (there will be many Help Team people to guide you).

In Transition

Once you get back to your bike you will put on your shoes, Official Shirt, shorts and helmet and then head into the ride. Again, there will be officials here to help you. When you return to Transition you will rack your bike, take off your helmet and head off for the Run

Finally, the Run

You will really enjoy this bit as you complete the course and cross the finish line! Soak up the cheers and enjoy getting your medal from one of our sporting hero ambassadors.

Events rules

  • Your helmet must be on correctly, and done up securely before you touch your bike and you must rack your bike before undoing your helmet.
  • Take care on corners particularly if conditions are wet
  • Road closures are in place, keep left if not overtaking- remember that your bike course is like a normal road, and normal road rules apply
  • Your Official Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon T-shirt must be worn during the ride and run
  • Familiarise yourself with the course – and view Information boards located throughout the event arena to check the maps
  • Do NOT move other participant’s bikes or gear in the transition area at anytime
  • Do up your shoelaces before you start to ride your bike!

After you receive your medal:

Enjoy a FREE Breakfast of Champions!

Go to the Weet-Bix Breakfast of Champions tent after you have finished the course and received your medal where you will receive a FREE breakfast.

Prize Draw!

The Event Day LUCKY PRIZE DRAW is done electronically after everyone has checked in. Please note there is no final stage presentation at the conclusion of the event to announce prize winners. Prize winners will be announced by the commentator throughout the day. If you are a winner and miss your name or are unable to collect your prize on the day, we will notify your parent or carer by mail. Everyone who registers before the closing date for each event will automatically go into the draw to win some fantastic prizes such as a TREK bike!

Collecting your bike and gear from Transition:

Transition age sections cannot be opened whilst children in that age group are still participating. This is for the safety and security of everyone on the day, especially those children still completing the course.

The Course Director will announce when the transition area for your age group is open and bikes can be removed. One adult ONLY may accompany you when picking up your bike from the transition area.

Please listen to the commentator for instructions in making this easy. We have many bikes and children to clear the area so your patience will be appreciated.
